Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall partnership allocated an east coast floating offshore wind site in ScotWind
- Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall awarded rights to develop a site approximately 67km off the east coast of Scotland, north east of Aberdeen, as part of Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind offshore leasing round
- 50/50 partnership will deliver substantial supply chain opportunities, environmental and socio-economic benefits in Scotland
- The project draws upon the partnership’s leading industry expertise, strong track record of delivering renewable energy projects and exemplary engagement with local supply chain and communities
Today, Monday 17th January, the 50/50 partnership between Fred. Olsen Seawind and Vattenfall has been announced as a successful bidder in the Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind offshore leasing round.
The partnership has been awarded the rights to develop an offshore wind farm site located 67km off the east coast. This will allow the partnership to commence works necessary to deliver a project with a capacity of up to 798 MW - enough electricity to power over 700,000 homes – supporting Scotland’s net zero ambitions to deliver 11 GW of offshore wind by 2030.
The project brings together the skills and experience of two of Europe’s leading renewable energy developers, and their ability to:
- provide innovative solutions to the challenges of floating offshore wind
- generate manufacturing and fabrication opportunities locally
- increase long term sustainable jobs and value creation
